Phil's Salesforce Tip of the Week

Salesforce Labs – Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #511

Welcome to Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #511

Tip 1 – Finally Warning

TODAY is your last chance to submit a session for Dreamforce 2022.

You can check our previous post for links to the different tracks, or go straight to the main submission page here.

There’s definitely an increase in people submitting their sessions, so competition is going to be even more tough this year.

Good luck!

(And looks like registrations will open this month too, so keep an eye out…)

Tip 2 – Salesforce Labs

Salesforce Labs

As you probably know, Salesforce Labs make many of the great free Apps that feature on Appexchange.

Salesforce Labs are holding 2 sessions (for different region friendly times), where they will walk through a number of solutions, and no doubt give some of the background of how & why they were created, and most importantly, what issues these Apps can resolve.

Register here, plus have the chance for a great prize.

Tip 3 – Dreamin in Color

Our Marketing Manager Ben was following this event, thanks for the write-up Ben…

Last week saw the ‘first & only conference for current or aspiring Black Salesforce professionals & entrepreneurs’ in Raleigh, North Carolina, Dreamin In Color. It was an astonishing success based on the many positive posts on Twitter before, during, and after the event.

We are a big believer in supporting and celebrating the diversity within the Salesforce Ohana. And any Salesforce event that makes Charlie Isaacs do a handstand on the dance floor must be doing something right.

Well done Tiffany Spencer!

Welcome to Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #510

Tip 1 – Dreamforce 2022

Dreamforce 2022

So how many people will attend Dreamforce 2022?? Initial reports said 30,000 but Marc Benioff revealed at the New York World Tour that in fact it would be 200,000. But no updated official number has been given. Pick a number!

If you don’t know what Numberwang is, you should watch this sketch from Mitchell & Webb.

Tip 2 – Coming Soon

Business Analyst

Not long to wait now… the much anticipated Salesforce Business Analyst cert will be launched July 11th. Take a look here for the overview and training links.

The general guideline for suitable candidates is 2 years of Business Analyst experience, and 2 years of Salesforce Platform experience.

Will you be first in line?

Meet the Galacticos: Priya Mahendrakar

Priya Mahendrakar, Salesforce Consultant – Meet the Galacticos

Continuing in our series in which you get to meet and learn more about the Cloud Galacticos team, say ‘hello’ to Priya Mahendrakar, one of our new Salesforce Consultants. I caught up with Priya to ask her a few questions.

Priya Mahendrakar, Salesforce Consultant

Hi Priya Mahendrakar, can you give us a bit of background about yourself and your work history?

I am a working mother of two beautiful daughters. I changed my career path towards Salesforce on the advice of my husband. Everywhere I work I make sure that I’m always learning and growing. Like everyone else at Cloud Galacticos, I’m a Salesforce nerd and love everything about it!

What’s your story behind joining the Cloud Galacticos team?

Priya Mahendrakar

Due to my Visa status in the UK, it was tough for me to find a job. Every opportunity that came my way were contract jobs among which Cloud Galacticos was one. This opportunity made me feel it was just right for me as a working mother to have stability in my job.

It’s all because of the trust Cloud Galacticos has in me, I am here today as a permanent employee. No matter how many times I mention it, I will always be thankful to the team.

What is your role as a Salesforce Consultant at Cloud Galacticos, and what do you enjoy about it?

I am working as a consultant on a few projects handling implementation and also support as administrator. I enjoy two things about working at Cloud Galacticos.

  1. We have the luxury to work our way and no one to micro-manage things.
  2. I get to do my certifications that I was never able to do earlier in my previous jobs.

And I’m currently enjoying and exploring the marketing platform of Salesforce.

Do you have plans to take any Salesforce certifications in the near future?

Indeed, as Cloud Galacticos always says, “Keep learning!”. I am aiming for Marketing Cloud Consultant certification.

You were one of the team members who worked at the recent London’s Calling conference. Can you tell us more?

Cloud Galacticos at London's Calling 2022

London’s Calling was my first ever big Salesforce event I attended. And I’m thankful to Cloud Galacticos for giving me the opportunity. It was great that we were a Platinum Sponsor.

I got the chance to meet so many people from the Salesforce eco-system on various stages of their journey. It was also good to be able to check out the other sponsor stands and find out what they do.

I really enjoyed attending the many sessions – they were informative and good for improving knowledge. We also had the UK’s strongest man, Gavin Bilton, as a guest at our stand was great fun.

One of my highlights was being asked to give tips to Salesforce admins for the London’s Calling live stream!

Aside from Salesforce and working at Cloud Galacticos, what else do you enjoy doing?

Singing and dancing is my passion. I try to do it most days. I also look forward to being a Zumba instructor at some point in the future!

Favourites:

Food: Chicken Biryani

Drink: Wild Apple Beer(Note: it’s not cider)

Music: Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Bollywood

TV Shows: The Bold Type

Film: Real Steel and Confessions of Shopaholic

Animal: None (I am OCD!)

Place to Visit: Switzerland

Slack Huddles – Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #509

Welcome to Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #509

Tip 1 – Slack Huddles

Slack Huddles

At Galactico Towers we are big Slack users (especially Slack Huddles), so the news from SlackHQ this week is widely anticipated.

In the Autumn there will be a new feature of added videos to Slack Huddles. There will be limits on numbers per session, and you initiate them immediately rather than schedule calls in advance.

So it won’t be replacing Zoom, for now.  But it will include file sharing, emojis, saving to channels & searchable threads.

Tip 2 – Salesforce+

Salesforce+

If you missed the London World Tour or any of the sessions, you can view many of them via Salesforce+.

There are also some interviews recorded from the day that were not open to attendees.

Tip 3 – My Event Highlights

London's Calling

It was great to be out at events, meeting people, reconnecting, chatting…

Here are 2 reviews we wrote about London’s Calling and the London World Tour.

What was your highlight?

World Tour London 2022 Review Blog

Salesforce World Tour London 2022

Here’s our Salesforce World Tour London 2022 review blog.

The Salesforce conference returned as a in-person event and was sold out.

World Tour London 2022 Review

Cloud Galacticos at World Tour London 2022After a couple of years’ break, the Salesforce World Tour returned to London. As per London’s Calling the week before, the conference was sold out and again, much anticipated.

The format for the day followed previous years, with a main keynote update speech, lots of sessions covering many aspects of Salesforce, a busy expo of stands, and a special guest fire-side chat (this year was Benedict Cumberbatch).

It was a hive of informative topics, leanings and observations. It opened my eyes to how extensive and global Salesforce is in this world of ours.

Paul O’Dowd, Sales and Business Development Director

World Tour London Sessions

Mark Jones at World Tour London 2022One of the main focus for many of the attendees is the plethora of sessions throughout the day. One of Salesforce consultants, Mark Jone, did not one but three. He spoke about building and automating Salesforce apps, and personal branding.

For those who couldn’t attend the conference, all sessions were streamed live via Salesforce+.

I was great to be able to watch everything live on Salesforce+. We had Twitter and LinkedIn profiles of the speakers, plus I could talk to other people also watching via the live chat too. It felt like I was still able to engage with the event.

Priyanka Miryalkar, Mulesoft Lead Developer

Post-World Tour London Parties

World Tour London 2022 After Parties

Once the sessions, networking, and learning is over at 5pm, it’s time for the after parties.

As per previous years, it’s a great chance to catch up with people you’ve met (or didn’t get time to catch up with) during the day in a more casual setting. The bars around Excel were full to the brim of people from the Salesforce eco-system. After a two-year hiatus, there were a lot of catch up on…

It was amazing to be able meet everyone again; I made so many new connections and added many new people to my LinkedIn. There are just some things you can’t do via Zoom.

Adam Barnes, Salesforce Consultant

Finally we could meet up with 5,000 members of the Salesforce community again after so long! It really did feel like a well overdue reunion.

I enjoyed the trip out on the new Elizabeth line out to the Excel, meeting up with with so many people and having to stop myself saying ‘I haven’t seen you in ages!’…

It was also a chance to meet some new faces, such as some new Partner booths, Zahra Bahrololoumi, and Golden Hoodie winner Evaldas Zaranka.

Let’s not leave it so long until the next big event!Phil Walton, CEO

London's Calling 2022 Review

London’s Calling 2022 Review

Here’s our Cloud Galacticos London’s Calling 2022 review blog.

The Salesforce community event was highly anticipated. And it did not disappoint.

London’s Calling 2022 Review

London's Calling 2022 ReviewThe event returned to its original in-person conference format, so expectations were high. Tickets sold out in advance and there was a real buzz on social media in the build up.

Queues were already forming well before the doors opened. You could see people were excited to be at the event. Everything ran smoothly and had a great energy throughout the day; from the welcome speech, Demo Jam, and keynote, to the after party.

Thanks again to the amazing team of organisers who pulled out all the stops to make this London’s Calling the best yet.

Cloud Galacticos Platinum Sponsor Stand

Phil Walton London's Calling 2022 ReviewCloud Galacticos was one of two Platinum Sponsors (alongside OwnbackUp).  It was our biggest sponsorship to date and we had a 11-strong team in attendance. Our team definitely rose to the challenge.

Throughout the day, a flow of attendees from the Salesforce ecosystem came to the stand to find out more about what we do. They also had a surprise guest in the form of Gavin Bilton, the UK’s Strongest Man. Not surprisingly, he attracted lots of attention and had some great photos taken.

(We are also hiring, so get in touch to find out which Salesforce roles we’re currently for)

London’s Calling Sessions

Mark Jones London's Calling 2022 ReviewOne of the main highlight of London’s Calling 2022 was the sessions. They are usually done by the trailblazers in the Salesforce ecosystem. This year, we had two members of our team, Paul and Mark, who did a session.

“It was great to be at London’s Calling again this year, it was great to be there as a speaker.

I went to a number of different sessions at this year’s event, the main one that stood out to me was the session, ‘Designing for Better Outcomes’ with Melissa Hill Dees. The session focused on consequence scanning and led us in a unique approach of discussing intended and unintended consequences of work that we do.” Mark Jones, Salesforce Consultant

Salesforce Ohana

Salesforce Ohana London's Calling 2022 Review

As we all know, what makes Salesforce so great is the Ohana. It’s the people in the global ecosystem that makes it what it is. And attending community events like London’s Calling is a good way to connect with the Ohana.

It’s been over two years for most people, so being able to be together, in-person, meant a lot. We saw lots of people taking selfies, and generally having a good catch up between sessions.

“Was great seeing everyone in person again, getting a chance to see peeps in the community again and have some great chats which you just really can’t do remotely.” Adam Barnes, Salesforce Consultant

IdeaExchange – Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #505

Welcome to Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #505

Tip 1 – IdeaExchange

IdeaExchange

IdeaExchange has got a little bit controversial recently, with a lot of negative feedback on which Ideas are shortlisted and why.

Fair play to Scott Allan at IdeaExchange for facing the comments head on in this post.

Take a look, then you have until June 6th to vote.

Tip 2 – Einstein Bots API

Here is how to take Einstein Bots to a whole new level.

See this post from the Developer blog, which gives a background for some context, tells us about the new Einstein Bots Platform API (“…is a new REST API that allows you to interact with your Einstein Bots from any client“), and gives some further reference links.

A bot is an autonomous program that can interact with systems or users. Common use cases include: placing orders, providing customer support, showing FAQs, and more.

Bots minimise the need for human interaction when providing services to the end customer.
