How To Attract and Retain Salesforce Talent

How To Attract and Retain Salesforce Talent

We all know what makes a Salesforce consultancy is its people. And that’s definitely true at Cloud Galacticos. We have been growing steadily over the past few years, while making sure we attract the right kind of Salesforce talent to add value to our current team.

How do we, at Cloud Galacticos, source our Salesforce talent?

We are very fortunate to have been working in this ecosystem for around 18 years, and be very connected via our MVPs, Trailblazer Community Leaders, Salesforce bloggers, Authors, etc. But the ecosystem is changing and expanding at a massive rate. Add to this people have been stuck at home for two years, and the rolodex isn’t quite as up to date as it was. So now we look to increase our view by leveraging recruitment agencies like Supermums, so we can peek into new pools of talent, and know when someone is ready to make a leap.

What type of Salesforce roles do we look for?

Cloud Galacticos Christmas Meal 2019

Cloud Galacticos Christmas Meal 2019

The Galactico Model is based upon hiring the most senior Salesforce resources. We load up on Technical Architects, Senior Developers, Senior Consultants.

But also as we have grown, we have found the need for Business Analysts, Project Managers, HR Managers etc. And these roles will not necessarily need the 10 years of Salesforce experience that the other roles would need, so could come from different backgrounds.

These roles equally may not need to be full time, and can all be remote. So opening up the options to candidates from Supermums fits really well. And suits our ‘Health and Family first’ ethos.

What makes someone stand out in an interview?

A CV gets you into an interview, and personality gets you through it. Obviously a candidate needs the right skills and experience. But I have sensible conversations with our Clients, so I need someone who similarly can have sensible conversations with us.  A big plus for us is always someone who is honest about what they do and don’t know, who shares their strengths and their weaknesses. The biggest difference between an experienced consultant and a new one is that an experienced one knows they don’t know everything. So being honest with us up front helps us figure out how we can work with you most effectively and support your growth within the team.

What skills and attributes do we look for in someone that suits the culture at Cloud Galacticos?

Mark Speaking at London's Calling 2022

Mark Speaking at London’s Calling 2022

Aside from the honesty and personality mentioned above, we are big internally on letting team members own their work and schedule. We want a team of self-motivated people that don’t want or need micro-managing and that are willing to pick up ideas and run with them.

We also encourage our team members to keep on learning and engage with the Salesforce community. That could be doing Trailheads, going to user group events, or speaking at Salesforce-related conferences.

What skills and attributes do we develop within our company?

We are a remote first organisation, so try very hard to continue to focus on developing people’s communication and collaboration skills. Salesforce certifications are also extremely important for us as a partner. We encourage the team to try and use what they have learned on a project to help them prepare for a new certification or qualification. We also really encourage the team to talk – ask for help, or for someone to bounce an idea off. It’s a great way to learn more and to help validate your own ideas. Also, we find the training at Supermums a great place to up-skill.

What’s been the value of working with Supermums?

Supermums Alumni

Supermums Alumni

Our CEO, Phil, met Heather when she was launching Supermums and it stuck in his mind of what a great idea it was. Several of our team already were working parents, some found it difficult to get back into the market, and to find somewhere with flexible hours like we had.

Finding experienced keen professionals like the candidates Supermums have recommended to us have been a great help. We have hired several great candidates, including our new Office Manager, Natalia.

“Finding a job with Supermums was effortless. They did their research on me to be sure to find the right fit for the role. As a result the whole process was quick and easy.

The Cloud Galacticos team is amazing. Even though they are all superstars in what they do, they are very down to earth, kind, helpful, and welcoming.” – Natalia Egyed, Office Manager

We’re looking for more Salesforce talent to join our growing team – get in touch!

Tip 2 – SalesforceA

SalesforceA

If you haven’t used this already, don’t get too excited, as it is soon to be retired. SalesforceA appeared in 2015, and was used to administer an Org.

SalesforceA is a mobile app for Salesforce administrators. When you’re away from your desk, you can use your phone or tablet to perform essential administration tasks like resetting passwords, freezing users, and viewing current system status.

But alas this is now for immediate retirement.

Dreamforce Past Highlights

Dreamforce Past Highlights

Dreamforce is back in full force in September. We all know the past couple of years has affected in-person events a lot. So it’s no surprise that there’s a lot of excitement for this year’s event. The finer details are still to be announced, so we thought we’d do a quick top four Dreamforce past highlights blog in the meantime.

1. Salesforce Ohana

The Salesforce ecosystem just keeps on growing. And every year, more people get involved and more community events are set up. With such a global set up, we need to embrace the opportunities we get to meet up and connect. Dreamforce is definitely the focus point.

Being able to reconnect with our international Ohana in high up on our Dreamforce past highlights. And there are plenty of opportunities to meet new people too.

2. Main Keynote

Marc Benioff is a much admired man, and his keynote at Dreamforce is always one of our main highlights. It’s a chance to get an update on all things Salesforce and learn about future plans.

Plus there’s always surprise guests to wow the audience. We’d had the likes of Stevie Wonder, Beach Boys, and Alicia Keys entertain the crowd.

3. Sessions

Another of our Dreamforce past highlights are the many sessions that happen throughout the four-days. All topics are covered, and presented skilfully from the trailblazer community from around the world. It’s a great chance to learn from the best.

It can be overwhelming, so we recommend planning ahead and bookmark the sessions you want to attend. And don’t worry if you don’t make it to all the sessions you had planned. The joy of Dreamforce is just going with the flow and see where it takes you.

4. DreamFest

As well as all the opportunity to learn, network, and absorb everything Salesforce-related, it’s great to let your hair down and rock out. And with DreamFest, you get just that.

DreamFest has always attracted some of the biggest names in music. Internationally acclaimed artists like The Foo Fighters, U2, Fleetwood Mac, and Blondie have played in the past. Details of who is headline is always kept under wraps and much anticipated. Keep an eye out on social media for the latest gossip.

Dreamforce 2022

It’s not full steam ahead to Dreamforce 2022 in September. Are you lucky enough to be attending? If so, what are you looking forward to – let us know on Twitter!

Phil's Salesforce Tip of the Week

Single Sign-On – Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #514

Welcome to Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #514

Tip 1 – Code Builder

Code Builder

After last week’s post highlighting the launch of Code Builder…

Here is a Trailhead module to give you a bit more detail. 10 minutes well spent!

Tip 2 – Single Sign-On

Single Sign On

Thanks to our CTA, Ali, for this explanation of some big news this week about Single Sign-On…

Salesforce identity helps with building picture of customers by providing a secure and integrated platform for identity. This product inherits underlying Salesforce core platform features such as salesforce automation, lightning experience, and analytics that make it a unique product in comparison with other identity providers in the market.

(ISC)² is the World’s Leading Cybersecurity Professional Organisation and the fact they have chosen Salesforce identity approves this product from both security and capabilities points of view. Many other enterprises utilise Salesforce identity for both their internal and external users, and this means that Salesforce is a strong player in this area competing with big players such as OKTA, PING, Auth0, WSO2 and Microsoft.

This understanding shows why Ali is a CTA, and I am now just allowed to write blog posts!

Salesforce.org Unite Partner Summit Review

Salesforce.org Unite Partner Summit Review

Meeting of minds – Salesforce.org Unite Partner Summit Review

By Paul O’Dowd, Sales Director, Cloud Galacticos

From the 28th to the 30th of June, Cloud Galacticos, a partner of Salesforce.org, participated in the annual summit in Lisbon, Portugal with a collective audience of partners from SIs to ISVs, together with Salesforce.org representatives. Here’s my Salesforce.org Unite Partner Summit review.

Rob Acker, Salesforce.org CEO

Rob Acker at Salesforce.org Unite Partner Summit LisbonRob Acker, CEO of Salesforce.org opened the event with an inspiring presentation. It covered the exceptional work undertaken by the partners. He mentioned the increase in opportunities for individuals from all walks of life and how they play a part in the Salesforce.org ecosystem.

As the world increasingly moves into a digital and connected space, it is also vital to develop the support that is needed internally and externally in terms of growth and training.

Partner Roundtable

Salesforce.org Unite Partner Summit LisbonFor me, the takeaways were topics covering customer value, engagement, and observations within Education, Non-profit, and Enterprise. These areas allow those new to Salesforce.org the opportunity to learn from those already involved.

I also enjoyed the Partner roundtable discussions. My highlight was on ‘How to deal with the Good, Bad, and the Ugly’. It covered lessons learned as well as the correct way to move forward in difficult situations. For example, not all customers are the same, and taking care to listen, deliver, and nature relationships. This helps inspire confidence and help build long-term relationships.

Inspiring and Engaging

Paul O'Dowd at Salesforce.org Unite Partner Summit LisbonOverall, the meeting of minds, sharing knowledge, and the chance to meet face-to-face again was priceless. And after a couple of uncertain years, it made the summit even more inspiring and engaging. It’s helped me realise that at Cloud Galacticos, we aim to continue to support non-profit customers. We also aim to provide the best possible advice, service and knowledge where required.

Finally, congratulations to all the Partner of the Year winners, Cobra CRM, Hyphen8, Apysnergy, Own Backup & Vera Solutions.
