Cloud Galacticos Team 2022 Highlights

Cloud Galacticos Team 2022 Highlights

Continuing from our 2022 blog highlights, we move onto our team 2022 highlights. This year, Cloud Galacticos added seven new people to the team; we created a divisions for Sales and Marketing, Training, and Managed Services. We won one award and short-listed for another. We were Platinum Sponsors at London’s Calling. And there were plenty of in-person event highlights such Dreamforce, Salesforce Live, and user groups. Read on to find out some of our team’s 2022 highlights:

Priyanka Miryalkar, MuleSoft Lead Developer

Priyanka, Cloud GalacticosIt’s always been a privilege to work with some experienced peers at Cloud Galacticos. I’m getting lots of opportunities to work and improve my skillset. I also got scope to learn and finish new certifications in the areas where am interested to work in future. Plus focusing on health.

I was part of a fantastic project and was able to deliver it on time without any complaints which was a great experience. Remote working doesn’t mean we’re apart. In fact, we have regular Zoom coffee break, in-person co-working days, and team building days out.

I feel I am very much valued in all aspects at Cloud Galacticos. Giving time to my personal life is always been challenging in IT firms from my past experience. But Cloud Galacticos has got clarity and quality of work which respects each and every employee. I am proud to be a member.

Finally, it’s one year down, countless more to go at Cloud Galacticos. Plus it’s my one year anniversary in the UK. And this year I celebrated my 2nd wedding anniversary!

Paul O’Dowd, Sales Director

This year has been a significant change for me and I’m sure for many others. My introduction to Cloud Galacticos was in April. The development of relationships with partners, Salesforce AEs, client interactions and, most importantly, being part of and getting to know the Galactico team, how they think, act, and work, is never easy in any organisation.

However, hand-on-heart, the team has been welcoming, supportive, and eager to let me in and be one of the Galactico team. It gives me immense pride and enthusiasm knowing I am part of a focused and determined bunch of people who have no egos or want to diminish anyone’s efforts to be part of the collective process from ideas to the successful delivery of projects.

Although the forecast for the FY23 economic climate is predicted to be tough, my personal challenge is to make sure every minute of every hour is spent wisely and productively, especially with clients that are equally determined and focused on their need to be successful.

Natalia Egyed, Office Manager

Natalia Egyed, Cloud GalacticosFor me the highlight of 2022 was the birth of my little nephew – who is very cute! But the best part of the year was to get a job at Cloud Galacticos and meet its fantastic team.

Cloud Galacticos’s remote work policy also enabled me to visit family in Hungary. I was also able to take a nice holiday at Tenerife, as I was able to work from there for a few days and make our stay longer.

I looking forward to see what 2023 brings for myself and the team.

Phil Walton, CEO

Phil Walton London's Calling 2022 ReviewPersonal highlights:

  • Running a marathon and a half marathon (and currently training for the Adidas Manchester marathon in April).
  • Having the chance to meet one of the world’s strongest men Gavin Bilton, who is a great motivator (“Belief conquers all“). Plus beat him in an arm wrestle (well maybe it was a draw)…

Professional highlights:

  • Being able to add seven new people to the team in 2022, including creating 2 brand new departments.
  • Becoming a Platinum sponsor of London’s Calling 2022 – the biggest Salesforce UK community run event.
  • Being able to give back to so many good causes such as Walkabout Foundation, Buglife, Dementia Carers Count and much more…

David Shrimpton, Head of Managed Services

It’s only been two months but Cloud Galacticos already feels like home. And I already have many 2022 highlights:

  • Meeting up in Ashford for a co-working day (south).
  • Phil’s tour Europe’s smallest pub in Manchester
  • The Cloud Galacticos Christmas party – there’s nothing quite like getting to know your colleagues away form the glare of the Salesforce setup menu!

Professional highlight would be winning The Church of England managed services contract. It’s our biggest MS contract ever. It’s a testament of the great work and trust that our COO Paul and the rest of the team who worked on their projects have built up.

Mark Lewis, Head of Training

Mark [middle-right]

It’s an easy answer for me, joining Cloud Galacticos!

I’ve worked in the Salesforce training space for a few years now and still have a huge passion and hunger to help people get more out of Salesforce and do it correctly.

To join Cloud Galacticos at a very exciting time and help the rest of the team develop the business is easily my highlight of 2022!

Pippa Cox, Project Manager

Highlight for 2022 is Mighty Hikes in the Yorkshire Dales for Macmillan Cancer support.

It was a fabulous day with some cracking scenery. I was lucky enough to meet some inspirational hikers along the route who shared the motivations for supporting such a great cause.

Mahanth Garlapati, Salesforce Consultant

On Professional front: I had achieved 2 certifications in this year. In February, I completed my Omnistudio Consultant certification. And the other one is Service Cloud Consultant certification.

I am glad that in Cloud Galacticos I have got the opportunity to work on Integrations under the supervision of Mike Gill. This is a good learning experience for my career.

On Personal front: I became a first time father for my daughter born in April and I cherish her.

The Importance of Salesforce Training

Importance of Salesforce Training

Salesforce training is something we believe in strongly at Cloud Galacticos. We believe in ‘always learning’ and ‘staying ahead of the curve’. So we’re pleased to announce the recent appointment of Mark Lewis as the Head of Salesforce Training. He brings with him years of experience and knowledge that will drive us into 2023. With that in mind, this blog will be the first in a series of blogs from Mark covering all things training related…

Importance of Salesforce Training

Mark Lewis

Mark Lewis

Having worked closely with your implementation partners to give you the best Salesforce experience possible, you are getting ready to go live. You are also getting lots of questions from your soon to be End Users.

Maybe you have gone live and Salesforce Adoption isn’t quite what you’d expect it to be. The CFO keeps on mentioning the return on investment – we’ve all been there, haven’t we?

All too often training is an overlooked phase of a Salesforce implementation. This will naturally have an impact on your adoption, perceived ROI and the reputation of Salesforce as a useful product throughout your organisation. So it’s not over dramatic to say that a successful training rollout can have a significant positive impact on your overall project!

Salesforce Training at Cloud Galacticos

How can we at Cloud Galacticos help? First of all we know Salesforce. We understand how it works, we live and breathe best practice and doing Salesforce the right way!  What we don’t know is how you expect YOUR Salesforce to work and what you want your end users to be able to do.

We will invest time to understand the problems you are looking to solve and the reasons you chose Salesforce. We will also look at the processes your partners have built into your solution. Plus WHY you are asking your users to embrace Salesforce in a particular way.

It would be even better if we could do it in your actual Salesforce environment wouldn’t it? Well, if you have ever wondered what you could use all of those awesome Salesforce Sandboxes for, you now have a useful answer! We can use them to deliver scenario based, benefits led training in an environment that reflects your actual Production instance of Salesforce. Everyone wins!

“Why are we using Salesforce?”

Training should never be a ‘click here, click here and look this happens’ experience. A good training session should be engaging, benefits led with strong messaging as to how to use Salesforce the correct way. It should also have a positive impact whilst answering the question, ‘Why are we using Salesforce?

Salesforce Training Blog Series…

This is the first of a series of blogs on all things (Salesforce) training related by Mark Lewis our new Head of Training. Watch this space for more insightful training blogs in 2023. And feel free to let us know what you want Mark to write about…

Accelerator for Nature – Tip of the Week #534

Welcome to Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #534

Tip 1 – ‘Accelerator for Nature’

Accelerator for Nature

Last week at the 2022 COP15 in Montreal, Canada, Salesforce announced it’s going to expand three environmental initiatives to advance nature-based solutions.

The Accelerator for Nature was designed to provide nonprofits with the flexible, risk-tolerant capital they need to expand important climate-related work.

The nonprofits will also receive technology and pro-bono support to pursue big ideas, test new solutions, and scale successful climate programs faster.

The Accelerator for Nature is another great initiative to go along with the many others that Salesforce are championing!

Tip 2 – Spring ’23 Sandbox

Spring '23 Sandbox

The Spring ’23 Release is coming early 2023. A key date will be 6th January 2023. This is the date the Sandbox Previews start.

It’s a great chance to find out what the Spring ’23 Release has in store and have a play around!

“Like the prerelease program, the sandbox preview allows you to test new features without impacting your live environment.

..The added benefit to the sandbox preview is the ability to test new features using a configuration that matches your production environment.”

Automation Everywhere Bundle – Tip of the Week #533

Welcome to Phil’s Salesforce Tip of the Week #533

Tip 1 – Automation Everywhere Bundle

Automation Everywhere Bundle

Last week Salesforce introduced a new Automation Everywhere Bundle to ‘accelerate end-to-end workflow orchestration, automate across any system, and embed data and AI-driven workflows anywhere‘.

With the current market conditions it could help many companies with its automation.

Amid macroeconomic uncertainty, leaders across every business are prioritizing investments that drive leverage for their organizations and accelerate time-to-value‘.

Tip 2 – Salesforce Live Highlights

Also last week was Salesforce Live in London. Some of the team at Cloud Galacticos went to this must-attend event.

Why not read our blog about some of their highlights from the day?

And it’s always great to be able to catch up with my old military friend, Jonathan Fox. We had a good conversation around Trailhead Military here in the UK. Hopefully we’ll get to arrange an in-person meet up in 2023…” Mark Lewis, Head of Training

Salesforce Live London 2022 Highlights

Salesforce Live London Highlights

Last week some of the team at Cloud Galacticos attended the Salesforce Live event in London. The conference, held at ExCel, was well attended and had a full day of keynotes, sessions, expo and networking opportunities. Here are some highlights from the team.

Opening Keynote

The day started with an opening keynote from Salesforce CEO Zahra Bahrololoumi. She was joined by a very special guest Zarah Al-Kudcy, Head of Commercial Partnerships at Formula 1.

“The keynote was really interesting and there were some good points raised. But my highlight was when the NYJO (The National Youth Jazz Orchestra) appeared on stage and starting playing. What a brilliant way to kick-start a Salesforce conference!” Adam Barnes, Salesforce Consultant

Salesforce Live Sessions

Throughout the day there were plenty of sessions to attend and learn more about Salesforce.

I really enjoyed the ‘Learn how your Digital Headquarters can drive 49% more productivity’ session. The speakers were Jonathan Clarke from monday.com, and Alex Mele from Slack. They highlighted how Salesforce, especially Slack helps them stay connected and productive.” Ben Duong, Marketing Manager

Networking

The people is always what makes Salesforce and the events what they are. At Cloud Galacticos we like to stay connected with our Salesforce Ohana, and Salesforce Live did not disappoint.

Salesforce Live for me, was an opportunity to meet Partners and prospective clients in an environment less conducive to a video call but in person.

My biggest takeaway was the ability to sit and discuss important matters relating to business opportunities with individuals. It’s always great to get the chance to see or talk to people you don’t normally get the chance to at other events.” Paul O’Dowd, Sales Director

Reconnecting with the Salesforce Ohana

This year has been full of opportunities to get back out there and meet our Salesforce Ohana in-person and face-to-face.

Cloud Galacticos as a Platinum Sponsor at London’s Calling in June, and we also attended the World Tour in London the same month. While in September is was amazing to be back in San Francisco for Dreamforce. And being at Salesforce Live is a great way to round up 2022.

I did managed to catch up some people I haven’t seen for a while, though there’s never enough time to do everything you want at these events. So here’s to more Salesforce events in 2023!” Phil Walton, CEO

Trailhead Military

I recently joined Cloud Galacticos as Head of Training so it was great be able to attend Salesforce Live in London to spread that news.

And it’s always great to be able to catch up with my old military friend, Jonathan Fox. We had a good conversation around Trailhead Military here in the UK. Hopefully we’ll get to arrange an in-person meet up in 2023 for fellow veterans, their spouses and Trailhead Military Allies.

Had yesterday not happened, those conversations wouldn’t have happened as quickly. So here’s to more in-person Salesforce meet ups!Mark Lewis, Head of Training

Nile Rodgers

What a better way to round of a great day of Salesforce goodness than with a musical legend that is Nile Rodger?

It was great to hear about amazing musical journey and some of the talent people he’s met and worked with on the way. He spoke about how he came to work with David Bowie. And he shared his lessons on working hard and dealing with adversity.

He also mentioned ‘We Are Family Foundation’ which he founded. Its aim is to inspire the next generation about ‘respect, understanding and cultural diversity – while amplifying youth efforts to solve some of our biggest global problems’.

Tip 4 – Bret Taylor

After a year of being promoted to co-CEO, Bret Taylor is stepping down. The news was announced on Wednesday that he will be leaving the post at the end of January 2023.

Bret joined in 2016 and played a key part in the $27.1 acquisition of Slack, which was Salesforce’s largest transaction ever.

We have to let him be free, let him go, and I understand, but I don’t like it. And Bret, you know that you’re always going to be our brother. We love you deeply, you have a home here, we’re gonna try to get you back somehow. ” Benioff
