Mark Jones, Salesforce Consultant – Meet the Galacticos

Mark Jones Meet the Galacticos

Continuing in our series in which you get to meet and learn more about the Cloud Galacticos team, say ‘hello’ to Mark Jones, one of our new Salesforce Consultants. I caught up with Mark to ask him a few questions.

Mark Jones, Salesforce Consultant

Hi Mark Jones, can you give us a bit of background about yourself and your work history?

Sure, I began my career training up as an Office Administrator, I then moved into printing for a local school for a while before moving back into Admin and eventually into the Salesforce workspace in 2016 getting my start in the Nonprofit sector. I’ve also spent time as a youth worker and an events organiser, planning music events for a variety of youth programmes in the North East of England.

What’s your story behind joining the Cloud Galacticos team?

Mark Jones Cloud GalacticosIt’s one of those stories where it kind of just happened.

I was interested in moving on from my previous role, so I reached out to Supermums as a recruiter. They organised a few interviews for me, one of them being with Cloud Galacticos.

I met with Paul and Neel for an interview and as they say the rest is history. I started a couple of months after that interview.

What is your role as a Salesforce Consultant at Cloud Galacticos. What do you enjoy about it?

I work as a Salesforce Consultant. So far my role has focused mainly on supporting existing clients with Admin related work, such as building Flows, building upon existing Salesforce functionality and providing end user support. In my time here, I’ve really enjoyed working in a team. In my prior role I was a Solo Admin, so I had to do everything on my own without a support mechanism around me.

Do you have plans to take any Salesforce certifications in the near future?

I’m always open to growing in what I do. Currently I’m working towards passing the Nonprofit Cloud Consultant certification, that’s my priority this year. There are other certifications I’m interested in including Slack Admin, both of the recently announced certifications, Design Strategist and Business Analyst and the Process Automation partner credential.

You have a busy few months ahead, travelling and speaking at various Salesforce events. Can you tell us more?

Over the course of May and June I will be speaking at Czech Dreamin’, London’s Calling, YeurDreamin’, and Salesforce World Tour London. The topics I am covering include skills for Salesforce Admins, personal branding and Flow. Over the next 5 weeks I’ll be back and forth to London and over to Prague and Amsterdam for these events. I’m also in the middle of co-founding a community conference about Process Automation.

At Cloud Galacticos, we’re a remote work focused company, what advice would you give people to make the most of working remotely and staying motivated?

One of the best ways to stay motivated is to actually take some time to get away from your desk. I say this because our health and wellbeing is so important, especially when we live in a world now where it is so easy to be permanently attached to our desks. If our health and wellbeing is in a good place it will have a positive effect on our work.

Aside from Salesforce and working at Cloud Galacticos, what else do you enjoy doing?

We have a couple of pets living at home, Jet our cat and Jacks our dog. Jacks is a labsky (labrador and husky cross). He’s a little under two years old and is full of energy, so he gives us a lot to do.

I also spend time with my local church where I lead a Bible study group and support one of our services as the on-hand tech guy.
